The cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. Famous for its architecture, Barcelona is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. A walk to the La Rambla is a must. There you will find the best restaurants in the city. We were surprised by the places we found, great food, great hospitality and great wine!! A few places to see in Barcelona:1. Basilica of La Sagrada Familia - One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status.2. Park Guell - one of the most famous sights of Barcelona. Gaudí has created a fabulous forest with this park. You should reserve at least two hours to visit the park. Although admission is only allowed in half-hour intervals, once you've entered the park, you may stay as long as you'd like, so take your time exploring the space.3. Casa Batlló - Influenced by nature, Casa Batlló has no straight lines (because they don’t exist in nature, said Gaudí), stone pillars that contort like animal bones, and a tall, ocean-blue stairwell. Constructed between 1906 and 1912 by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984.4. La Rambla - Barcelona’s most famous street—a nearly one-mile pedestrian boulevard from Plaça Cataluyna to Port Vell—is still the strolling route for the city's visitors, even if selfie-stick vendors can’t match the charm of the old-school florists, gelaterías, and candy stalls offering bites of crema catalana along the way. 5. Montserrat National Park - Montserrat is a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat about one hour North West from Barcelona by train, its natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breathtaking. You can take a funicular to the top of the mountain, and from there you can choose a number of different walks, all with amazing views of the Catalonian countryside.
